ARLC boss Peter V'landys has condemned the barrage of sledging<\/a> that marred a spiteful clash between Cronulla and New Zealand last weekend.<\/p>\n

Will Chambers unleashed a series of sledges at Warriors players, with Kane Evans eventually being sin-binned after punching the Sharks centre.<\/a><\/p>\n

Reports suggest Chambers targeted the criminal history of Warriors prop Matt Lodge, who pleaded guilty in 2015 to a misdemeanour reckless assault charge in the United States.<\/p>\n

It's also believed Warriors halfback Sean O'Sullivan, Lodge's brother-in-law, was dragged into the mess.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio 2GB's Ben Fordham, V'landys said the whole affair was over the top.<\/p>\n

"I think it's out of bounds," V'landys said. "I think it's uncalled for."<\/p>\n

"It's not in the spirit of the game, and bringing personal issues into the game is just not part of the game.<\/p>\n

"I hope Will learns from it and doesn't do it again."<\/p>\n

V'landys explained that there's no ban on sledging, but players need to know where the line is.<\/p>\n

"If it's humorous, that's OK," he said.<\/p>\n

"But don't make it personal. Don't make it about your private life. That's what's out of bounds.<\/p>\n

"It's not in the spirit of the game, and it's not in the spirit of humanity. You don't pick on someone's weaknesses or things that have happened in their life that are regrettable.<\/p>\n

"You play the game, you play it hard, but keep the personal attacks out of it."<\/p>\n

Evans has apologised to his Warriors teammates for losing his cool during the match, which saw him serve two separate stints in the sin-bin.<\/p>\n

Despite being a man down for a quarter of the contest, the Warriors hung on for the win, 18-16.<\/p>\n

But the Warriors paid dearly for the victory, with Evans, Lodge and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak all suspended following the match.<\/p>\n

Chambers will also be missing from action this weekend, although Sharks coach Josh Hannay says that's a decision made purely on form<\/a>, and isn't related to the sledging incidents last weekend.<\/p>\n

The Sharks centre escaped scrutiny from the match review committee<\/a> for his comments against the Warriors, with the audio evidence not clear enough to lay a charge.<\/p>\n

"The match review committee did monitor the referee's audio for any comments that may or may not have been made and comments weren't audible enough to be picked up by the on-field communication equipment," the NRL's Graham Annesley said.<\/p>\n

"That's not to say that nothing was said, it's just nothing was picked up on the audio.<\/p>\n

"The match review committee can only deal with the incidents that they believe they have evidence to proceed with. There was nothing there they could find."<\/p>\n
