{"id":115458,"date":"2021-08-12T21:36:08","date_gmt":"2021-08-12T21:36:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=115458"},"modified":"2021-08-12T22:56:21","modified_gmt":"2021-08-12T22:56:21","slug":"tennis-star-explains-wild-on-court-behaviour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=115458","title":{"rendered":"Tennis star explains &#039;wild&#039; on-court behaviour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/tennis\/australian-open\" title=\"Australian Open\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Australian Open<\/a> semi-finalist <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/tennis\/coco-vandeweghe\" title=\"Coco Vandeweghe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Coco Vandeweghe<\/a> has explained her bizarre behaviour at an ITF tournament in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Vandeweghe, who has been ranked as high as number nine in the world, was locked at a set apiece with Ekaterine Gorgodze at the Koser Jewelers Tennis Challenge in Landisville, Pennsylvania, when the match was suspended due to wild weather.<\/p>\n<p>The American had first showed signs of distress late in the second set, when she made little attempt to return serve. After dropping the set, Vandeweghe called for a medical timeout and was about to pull out with injury before the match was suspended due to heat.<\/p>\n<p>When conditions finally relented enough for play to resume, Vandeweghe made no attempt to warm up, instead standing at the baseline and simply batting the ball back towards Gorgodze.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"b159fad7-d2a6-48d6-b496-c2e127e59f65\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/f7e11f50-4388-436b-b603-8f86608ac7ed\" alt=\"Ash Barty and CoCo Vandeweghe\" data-width=\"1396\" data-height=\"785\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&quot;I&#x27;ve never seen this in my life. This is wild. She&#x27;s going to do just enough here just so she doesn&#x27;t get in trouble,&quot; the commentator said.<\/p>\n<p>Vandeweghe has now explained exactly what was going on.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I have been suffering from a severe sinus infection which is limiting my breathing,&quot; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Late in the second set I also began experiencing symptoms of heat exhaustion.
