Ross Lyon<\/a> will be sounded out over the Carlton senior coaching role, with David Teague<\/a> set to be sacked at the end of the season, according to Eddie McGuire.<\/p>\n

The findings from a lengthy external review will be handed down to Carlton's board on Thursday, although no announcements are expected in the immediate future.<\/p>\n

"There will be big changes at Carlton and David Teague will finish up in the next two weeks," McGuire told Nine's Footy Classified<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"There have been people that have been reached out to in the coaching fraternity and [Lyon] will get a phone call."<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Lyon confirmed that he had not yet been contacted by Carlton over the senior coaching position for next season and beyond, and remained non-committal over whether he'd take the call, given Teague's current employment status.<\/p>\n

"I've been through this before, there's no position at Carlton," he said when asked by Caroline Wilson on Footy Classified<\/em>. "David Teague is the coach, Brad Lloyd is the footy manager and Cain Liddle is the CEO. "<\/p>\n

"There's a Collingwood position around, but Carlton, I just find it's a really tough situation that was put on the table and they've got to work through it.<\/p>\n

"It is messy, no one likes it, I feel for David Teague and his family because I've been in a tough spot, not quite to this level, it's a really difficult time and I feel we're feasting on him before he's even [sacked]."<\/p>\n

The 54-year-old said the Blues' review likely stemmed from an inability to meet lofty internal goals set by the club's powerbrokers.<\/p>\n

"This review is about the whole football department, let's get back to why we're talking about it because Carlton sold the expectations through the roof on the transition of Bolton, their CEO did, and that's fair enough," he said.<\/p>\n

"They didn't run a process [to hire Teague] but that comes up to haunt you now – what you did at the front end haunts you at the back end.<\/p>\n

"If there was no expectation on Carlton they'd be fine and we wouldn't be having a review.<\/p>\n

"Clearly the expectations from within and around that club are really high and they haven't delivered on them.<\/p>\n

"David Teague hasn't been able to deliver like [Essendon coach Ben] Rutten has, so he's under pressure."<\/p>\n
