The Knights have confirmed Rabbitohs star Dane Gagai will return to Newcastle next season on a three-year deal.<\/p>\n

Gagai, who played 128 games for the Knights between 2012-2017, will join Newcastle next season on a deal that will see him remain at the club until the end of 2024.<\/p>\n

It's understood Gagai turned down interest from the Brisbane Broncos as well as a contract extension from South Sydney<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Club great and General Manager of Football, Danny Buderus, said he's confident Gagai's signing will help the development of the young stars in the playing group.<\/p>\n

"We couldn't be happier to secure Dane's signature," Buderus said.<\/p>\n

"Having played with Dane, I know exactly what he's going to bring to the group. His representative experience and talent are close to unmatched in his position.<\/p>\n

"He's full of quality both as a person and as a player.<\/p>\n

"I know he will positively impact the entire group, with his personality and knowledge helping to develop young players into senior leaders."<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old outside back has played 221 NRL games across stints at the Broncos, Knights and Rabbitohs.<\/p>\n

Gagai has also represented Queensland on 19 occasions and has seven caps for the Kangaroos.<\/p>\n
