Canterbury<\/a> front-rower Jack Hetherington's rap sheet grew again during the Bulldogs' 28-16 defeat to Wests Tigers<\/a>, when the firebrand prop was sin-binned for a high shot late in the game.<\/p>\n

Hetherington finished the match in the sin bin after it was deemed he collected Tigers<\/a> bench forward Alex Twal high in the 76th minute.<\/p>\n

But Fox League commentator Warren Smith argued that Hetherington's well-documented foul-play history had led to referee Chris Butler sending the former Panther and Warrior to the sin bin.<\/p>\n

Smith's comments followed a rebuttal from Josh Jackson<\/a>, when the broadcast picked up the Canterbury captain saying to the referee: "That's harsh."<\/p>\n

"He's been all action and energy in this second half but … he treads a fine line," Smith said.<\/p>\n

"Josh Jackson summed it up in saying, 'That's harsh.'<\/p>\n

"Honestly, we've seen some tackles this weekend worse than that which didn't remotely get a look at as far as going to the sin bin.<\/p>\n

"I've got no doubt there that is Jack Hetherington's reputation coming back to haunt him. Any other player there is no way that result's given, (from) what we've seen since the evaporation of the crackdown. Nobody else goes to the sin bin for that. But Hetherington – he brings a lot of baggage to the game with him every week, doesn't he? And I think that reputation has hurt him right there."<\/p>\n

ARLC chairman Peter V'landys<\/a> enforced a wholesale crackdown on high contact in Magic Round<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And while there were 14 sin-bins and three send-offs in that round<\/a>, as well as several following weeks packed with strict interpretations of high contact, the crackdown has dwindled since.<\/p>\n

Legendary Balmain front-rower Steve Roach applauded Hetherington's passion and said he didn't agree with the sin-bin decision.<\/p>\n

"As least he wears his heart on his sleeve, he's trying to do his best, trying to lift his teammates," Roach said.<\/p>\n

Smith added: "The problem for him, as we've mentioned every time he goes around now, is he only has to sneeze."<\/p>\n

Hetherington's high shot will be assessed by the match review committee<\/a> to determine if further sanction is warranted.<\/p>\n
