Wallabies coach Dave Rennie has backed Noah Lolesio to respond from his horror goalkicking night at Eden Park, where he connected on just two of seven attempts in the 33-25 loss.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Auckland-born 21-year-old has proven himself an excellent kicker at Super Rugby level and again in the 2-1 series win over France.<\/p>\n

But he is showing some jitters against the All Blacks which badly hurt Australia's chances of mounting a competitive challenge in the first Test.<\/p>\n

"He was sensational in the French series and you don't go from an ace goalkicker to a novice overnight," Rennie said.<\/p>\n

"Tough conditions, we saw (All Blacks five-eighth) Richie (Mo'unga) miss as well.<\/p>\n

"He kicked penalties in the French series to win the first and third Tests and one that should have won us the second one. Yes, he'll be disappointed."<\/p>\n

Even with James O'Connor out injured, the Wallabies have plenty of options at No.10 for the rematch at the same ground next Saturday.<\/p>\n

Matt To'omua, Reece Hodge and Quade Cooper are in the squad but it would be a major surprise if Rennie makes a kneejerk call on Lolesio.<\/p>\n

"We've got a lot of faith in the kid," Rennie said.<\/p>\n

"He's going to get better and better, he's 21 and there are a lot of young men around him as well.<\/p>\n

\"Highlights:<\/p>\n

"He's growing and he's an impressive kid too, very confident, great work ethic, he's spending a lot of time sitting around with Quade and talking about the generic parts of his game. He played pretty well tonight, but he had a rough night with the boot."<\/p>\n

While Lolesio is likely locked in at pivot, Rennie has some intriguing calls to make elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Jordan Petaia was very quiet on his return from injury and Marika Koroibete will almost certainly take his spot on the wing given Andrew Kellaway's assured first Test start.<\/p>\n

Koroibete, Isi Naisarani and Pone Fa'amausili were not considered for selection in the first Test after they got carried away following a team dinner and drinks last week.<\/p>\n

"We haven't kicked them out of the squad, they've been with us all the time," Rennie said.<\/p>\n

"They trained in isolation the first day, which was needed. But then they contributed well.<\/p>\n

"We've got a fair few numbers here, but we've got to share the load as well.<\/p>\n

"We're going to judge them by their behaviour and how they react to this. If they drop their lip and kick stones for a week, then maybe they'll spend longer on the pine and I couldn't be happier with the way they responded.<\/p>\n

"They're good men, they just made a poor choice."<\/p>\n
