Adelaide Crows<\/a> star Taylor Walker<\/a> has been left out of the club's Showdown with Port Adelaide, which comes following allegations that he directed a racial slur at an opponent during a recent SANFL contest.<\/p>\n

It was revealed yesterday the former Crows skipper allegedly made a comment<\/a> to a Crows player about ex-St Kilda and current North Adelaide player Robbie Young, during a quarter-time huddle in the July 17 SANFL clash between Adelaide and North Adelaide.<\/p>\n

Walker, who has enjoyed a resurgent season for the Crows by kicking 48 goals in 17 games so far in 2021, was exempt from today's training and has now since been left out of the squad for Saturday's clash with the Power.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old's omission was confirmed in the club's weekly team announcement.<\/p>\n

"Crows forward Taylor Walker was not considered for selection for this weekend's game against Port Adelaide and has been omitted," the announcement on the club's website read.<\/p>\n

Along with Walker, Sam Berry and James Rowe have also been omitted as debutant Brayden Cook comes into the side, as well David Mackay and Riley Thilthorp.<\/p>\n

Crows assistant Nathan van Berlo was pressed by reporters earlier today regarding the matter, but chose to remain tight-lipped, with the club not ready to make a comment.<\/p>\n

"I understand there's really high level of interest in the football club at the moment but I hope you can understand and appreciate that I'm not in a position to make any comment this morning, due to the fact it is a highly sensitive and highly confidential matter at the time being," he said.<\/p>\n

"We had a discussion as a group but we're not going to go into details at this stage."<\/p>\n
