Gamble re-signed with the Broncos last month on an upgraded two-year deal worth around the NRL minimum of $100,000 a year,<\/a> the biggest deal of the 25-year-old's career. The five-eighth's pugnacious style of play has made him a fan favourite and his recent form suggests he could provide the Broncos a viable option outside new signing Reynolds next season.<\/p>\n There has been speculation the recently injured Kotoni Staggs could line up in the halves alongside Reynolds, after signing a $700,000 a season four-year deal recently. While Staggs made his debut in the outside backs, Kevin Walters believes the star's explosive running game warrants a move closer to the ruck. Lewis says Gamble would benefit from playing outside Reynolds.<\/p>\n "There's a couple of guys that would fit in there but if Gamble continues to improve at the rate that he has over the last couple of games I think the coach would be pretty comfortable with having him there," Lewis told Wide World of Sports' QLDER<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n "He'd have a pretty handy halfback on the inside and I say that without being disrespectful to the current No.7 but there are opportunities to come for Gamble."<\/p>\n Re-signing Gamble indicates the Broncos new head of football Ben Ikin is leaning towards a more cost-effective approach for the position after the club made Anthony Milford the highest-paid Bronco in history.<\/p>\n Staggs admitted he would need to have a full pre-season to switch to five-eighth. But given Gamble's form, his move to the halves is no certainty.<\/p>\n "He just seems to be increasing in confidence," Lewis added. "The biggest problem for a lot of players particularly ball players is that they're not having consistency in having the same players around them.<\/p>\n "They're finding they've got to change their game week after week to adapt to somebody else being the intended ball receiver so that can be difficult at times.<\/p>\n "He seems more confident that he's fitting in more comfortably there."<\/p>\n Speaking after committing to the Broncos early last month, Gamble said he's focused on playing next to the club's marquee signing next year.<\/p>\n "I want to play alongside Reyno but it'll probably be a battle between Kotoni and I throughout pre-season next year and throughout the trials," Gamble said.<\/p>\n "If he beats me to it then so be it.
