The Olympics<\/a> always brings up emotional stories that are the culmination of years in the making as athletes chase their dreams on the world's greatest sporting stage.<\/p>\n

For Canada's Penny Oleksiak, the Tokyo Games provided validation for an entire lifetime of hard work and sacrifice, and she especially wanted her high school teacher to know about it.<\/p>\n

The seven-time Olympic medallist revealed she decided to Google 'Canada's most decorated Olympian' and was excited to see her name pop up in the results.<\/p>\n

"I want to thank that teacher in high school who told me to stop swimming [because] swimming wouldn't get me anywhere," she tweeted.<\/p>\n

"This is what dreams are made of."<\/p>\n

Oleksiak has been one of Canada's standout performers at the Tokyo Olympics, winning silver in the 4x100m freestyle relay, bronze in the 4x100m medley relay and bronze in the 200m freestyle behind Australia's Ariarne Timus who took gold.<\/p>\n

At the Rio Olympics she also won gold in the 100m freestyle, silver in the 100m butterfly and bronze in the 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relays.<\/p>\n

Now back in Toronto Oleksiak relished the chance to reflect on her most recent Olympic campaign.<\/p>\n

"I felt SO confident, loved and supported at this one and I left being motivated for the next," she wrote on another post on Instagram.<\/p>\n

"There are no words to describe how it feels to represent Canada, but I wouldn't want to be the most decorated Olympian anywhere else in the world."<\/p>\n
