Olympic viewers were left in shock after Kazakhstan wrestler Nurislam Sanayev was seen biting India's Ravi Dahiya during his semi-final loss at the Tokyo Olympics<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dahiya won the semi-final 9-7 after pulling off a huge comeback victory, booking him a spot in the men's freestyle 57kg final.<\/p>\n

The fourth seeded Indian trailed for much of the contest but he regrouped and got hold of his rival with a double leg attack that resulted in a 'victory by fall'.<\/p>\n

However, bite marks were visible on the right bicep of India's Dahiya, with an investigation launched and Sanayev facing the possibility of disciplinary action.<\/p>\n

"It was painful when Ravi returned from the mat but he was given an ice-pack and he is fine. The pain has subsided. He is fit for the final, no problem at all," a member of the Indian wrestling team's support staff told PTI<\/em>.<\/p>\n

According to the rules enforced by governing body UWW, wrestlers are forbidden to pull the hair, ears, genitals, pinch the skin, bite, twist fingers or toes of their opponents.<\/p>\n

"These general prohibitions are sanctioned based on the severity of the foul (disqualification, caution-1 (2) point or verbal warning)," states the rule.<\/p>\n

"Disciplinary sanctions might also be applied after the competition against the athlete at fault."<\/p>\n

Dahiya outclassed Colombia's Tigreros Urbano (13-2) in his opener and then outwitted Bulgaria's Georgi Valentinov Vangelov (14-4) and is now guaranteed a medal in the final.<\/p>\n

The Indian wrestler will face Russia's Zavur Uguev in the gold medal match on today.<\/p>\n
