Andrew Hoy has become Australia's oldest Olympic medallist at the age of 62 after winning a silver medal as part of the equestrian eventing team.<\/p>\n

Then only hours later, Hoy won bronze in the individual eventing event. The eight-time Olympian, along with teammates Shane Rose and Kevin McNab, finished second in the teams event behind Great Britain and just in front of France.<\/p>\n

Hoy's Olympic medal tally now comes to six: three golds, two silvers and a bronze.<\/p>\n

Incredibly, he made his Olympics debut in 1984 and is competing at a record eighth Games.<\/p>\n

Australia had started the final day of the eventing program 17.90 points behind Great Britain and 0.90 ahead of France. McNab produced a faultless round on Don Quidam in 77.76 seconds – 1.24 seconds inside the time limit. He was followed by Rose, who picked up a four-point penalty aboard Virgil.<\/p>\n

That left Hoy with little margin for error as the team's anchor but he came through under pressure and on board his horse Vassily De Lassos.<\/p>\n

The final points tally for the medallists was Great Britain (86.30 points), Australia (100.20) and France (101.50).<\/p>\n

Hoy also became the oldest individual Olympic medallist since Swedish shooter Oscar Swahn in 1912.<\/p>\n
