Karachi: The BCCI has formally written to the ICC, requesting it not to recongnize the Kashmir Premier League (KPL), approved by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to a report in ESPNCricinfo, BCCI asked ICC that Kashmir is a disputed territory; hence no matches in such territories should have ICC\u2019s approval. However, ICC doesn\u2019t have any rules and regulations against matches in disputed territories.<\/p>\n

Domestic leagues like KPL require approval from the country\u2019s board, which in this case is PCB. ICC\u2019s regulation regarding the approval of an event, clause 2.1.3, clearly states that each national cricket federation shall have the sole and exclusive right to sanction the staging of domestic matches within its territory.<\/p>\n

Remember, former South African batter Herschelle Gibbs tweeted that he had been threatened that he wouldn’t be allowed entry into India for any cricket related work. if he plays in KPL.<\/p>\n

PCB also expressed its displeasure as they consider BCCI have interfered in the PCB’s internal affairs. \u201cThe PCB will raise this matter at the appropriate ICC forum and also reserves the right to take any further action that is available to us within the ICC charter,” PCB said in a statement.<\/p>\n

It must be noted here that KPL is all set to start from August 6 in Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir featuring six teams. Former England players including Monty Panesar, Matt Prior, Phil Mustard, and Owais Shah<\/p>\n

Sri Lanka\u2019s Tillakaratne Dilshan and Gibbs have announced to play the league despite all pressure by Indians.<\/p>\n
