Off-contract champion Roosters<\/a> centre Josh Morris<\/a> is in serious danger of having played his final NRL game after he was today ruled out for five weeks due to a hamstring injury.<\/p>\n

The former Kangaroos and Blues State of Origin star ended the Roosters' clash with the Eels on Thursday<\/a> early when he suffered a hamstring tear in the 52nd minute.<\/p>\n

A five-week recovery period would rub Morris out for the remainder of the regular season.<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old is sweating on the Tricolours locking in a spot in the top four, which would give him an extra week and possibly two to repair his hamstring and return to the field.<\/p>\n

But even if the Roosters finish in the top four and win their qualifying final, earning them a week off and a ticket to the preliminary finals, coach Trent Robinson<\/a> would be recalling a very rusty soldier in naming Morris for the grand final qualifier.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Morris has also struggled to remain a member of the Roosters' best 17 this year, in a season that's seen Robinson drop him from first grade.<\/p>\n

The NRL career of Josh's twin brother ended in devastating fashion when Brett ruptured an ACL in the Roosters' win over the Knights<\/a> in May, cutting short a 276-game career that included 176 tries and Kangaroos and Blues selection.<\/p>\n

Josh has racked up 321 games with the Dragons, Bulldogs, Sharks and Roosters, in a glittering career in which he's crossed for 156 tries and made six appearances for Australia and 15 with NSW.<\/p>\n

Josh's setback is the latest in a monumental Roosters injury toll, which has seen Luke Keary<\/a> (knee), Lindsay Collins<\/a> (knee) and Joseph Suaalii<\/a> (foot) suffer season-ending blows.<\/p>\n

Those are on top of career-ending injuries to Brett (ACL), Boyd Cordner<\/a> (concussion) and Jake Friend<\/a> (concussion).<\/p>\n

Despite the enormous weight of injuries, the Roosters are sitting fifth on the ladder and are equal on 28 points with the fourth-placed Eels.<\/p>\n
