Olympian Jess Fox<\/a> has revealed an unorthodox method of on-the-fly kayak repairs at the Tokyo Games.<\/a><\/p>\n

The bronze medallist posted a video on her Instagram account of a condom being used to hold carbon filler in place on the tip of her vessel.<\/p>\n

"Bet you never knew condoms could be used for kayak repairs," the 27-year-old wrote.<\/p>\n

Fox finished third in the K-1 event, with a heartbreaking time penalty costing her the gold.<\/a><\/p>\n

After finishing second and third in the past two Olympics and with the fastest time in the semi-final, she needed to beat the time of 105.50 set by Germany's Ricarda Funk to win gold.<\/p>\n

Despite finishing the course in 102.73, the fastest of any of the finalists, she picked up four penalty seconds for touching two of the gates, including on the very last one<\/a>. Had she avoided either of those penalties the gold medal would have been hers.<\/p>\n

Fox will have the opportunity to win gold again however when she's back in action before 5pm (AEST) on Thursday in the semis and final of the C-1, after posting the fifth-fastest time in the heats.<\/p>\n
