Wests Tigers centre James Roberts<\/a> has been photographed standing on his apartment balcony on the Gold Coast while he was meant to be in hard lockdown.<\/p>\n

The Wests Tigers announced tonight the NRL has reported the breach to Queensland Health.<\/p>\n

Roberts is currently unavailable to play for the Tigers, being stuck in quarantine after being a close contact of someone at a COVID-19 exposure site in Sydney which didn't allow him to travel to Queensland with the rest of his teammates.<\/p>\n

Under the restrictions imposed by the Queensland government, windows and doors in apartments have been gaffer taped shut<\/a> to stop those in the NRL bubble going onto their balconies.<\/p>\n

Queensland's chief medical officer Jeannette Young warned the NRL last week<\/a> that they could have their privileges to play in the state revoked due to breaches during the State of Origin series.<\/p>\n

"I'm getting very close to it (revoking exemptions)," Young said last Friday.<\/p>\n

"I'm very, very concerned about what is happening with these NRL players.<\/p>\n

"This is too risky. We just cannot have people deliberately breaching the rules."<\/p>\n

That warning came after breaches by Queensland forward Jai Arrow<\/a> during the State of Origin series, and then photos were published of NRL players' families passing food from one balcony to another.<\/p>\n

The Tigers said they were helping Roberts cope with the reported breach.<\/p>\n

"The NRL and Wests Tigers are providing James with additional wellbeing support to assist him in coping with quarantine and will continue to work closely with Queensland Health," the Tigers statement said.<\/p>\n
