Emerging Australian golden girl Ariarne Titmus<\/a> has produced another stellar performance in the pool at the Tokyo Olympics<\/a>, posting the fastest time of the 200m freestyle semi-finals.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old's brilliant time of 1:54.82 made her the fastest qualifier for the final, set to begin at 11:41am (AEST) tomorrow, in which she will engage in another highly anticipated battle with American superstar Katie Ledecky<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The first semi-final heat saw Hong Kong's Siobhan Bernadette Haughey finish second to Titmus in 1:55.16 and Charlotte Bonnet of France collect third in 1:57.35.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, fierce rival Ledecky grabbed first in the second semi-final heat with a time of 1:55.34.<\/p>\n

Titmus will shoot for the second gold medal of her first Olympic campaign in the 200m freestyle, after yesterday conquering Ledecky in the 400m freestyle with a time of 3:56.69<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sydney Morning Herald sports journalist Phil Lutton labelled Titmus' performance in her 200m freestyle semi-final heat as a "strong swim".<\/p>\n

SEN radio host Cameron Luke had even higher praise, calling Titmus "a perfect swimming tactician".<\/p>\n

In similar scenes to Titmus motoring home to beat Ledecky in the 400m freestyle final, the Tasmanian trailed Haughey with 50m remaining before bulleting through the final lap to win the heat by .34 of a second.<\/p>\n

Australian Madi Wilson also advanced to the 200m freestyle final, posting 1:56.58 to qualify in eighth.<\/p>\n
