Bulldogs<\/a> forward Luke Thompson is likely to face scrutiny from the match review committee after he was sent to the sin bin for a late shot during Canterbury's clash with Cronulla<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Midway through the first half with his side trailing by six points at the time, Thompson appeared to put a shoulder charge on Cronulla hooker Blayke Brailey off the ball.<\/p>\n

Referee Chris Sutton immediately placed Thompson on report and sent him to the sin bin, which proved costly as the Sharks crossed for two tries during his 10-minute stint of the field.<\/p>\n

Thompson's shot on the Cronulla hooker didn't sit well with Parramatta legend Peter Sterling, who not only questioned the forward's "toughness" by hitting a "small hooker", but said he wouldn't be surprised if it cost his side on the scoreboard, which it ultimately did.<\/p>\n

"It's silly play," Sterling said in commentary for Nine. "He can argue all he wants, but it was late."<\/p>\n

"It was so unnecessary, it was clearly a bad foul and he's left his side with 12 men for the next 10 minutes.<\/p>\n

"We've seen on countless occasions this season, where in that 10-minute period, teams have scored three tries and the game's been out of hand.<\/p>\n

"It's just really selfish play, to be honest. There is not a lot of toughness about hitting a small hooker coming across in that fashion.<\/p>\n

Andrew Johns added: "That is just ridiculous, really poor discipline."<\/p>\n

"I know they're coached to put pressure on the inside on the ball-players to try and make them play earlier, but that is just so silly."<\/p>\n
