Star Titans back-rower David Fifita<\/a> played arguably his best game of the season, but his performance was overshadowed by controversy when the bunker intervened in a moment when he appeared to drop the ball.<\/p>\n

Fifita was instrumental in his side's 32-10 win over the Dragons<\/a> today, coming off the interchange and notching one try, one assist and two linebreaks to go along with 118 run-metres.<\/p>\n

But during the second half with the game in the balance at 14-6 in favour of the Titans<\/a>, Fifita had a chance to score under the posts before a spectacular defensive effort from Jack Bird denied the Gold Coast forward from grounding the ball.<\/p>\n

While it may have appeared like Fifita lost control of the ball as he attempted to ground it in the in-goal, the bunker controversially ruled that Bird had stripped it before grounding it, which handed the Titans back possession.<\/p>\n

Moments later, following the goal-line dropout, the Titans scored in the corner on the back of a stunning Fifita assist, which didn't sit well with Fox League caller Warren Smith who felt the Titans received a "piece of luck".<\/p>\n

"This was ruled a strip… there was no way Jack Bird rips that out one on one.<\/p>\n

"That's a lost ball by Fifitia. That should've been a knock-on and the Dragons beginning at their own 20.<\/p>\n

"The Titans get the set of six and score through Greg Marzhew in the corner. A piece of luck for the Gold Coast."<\/p>\n
