Bronte Campbell led the race off with her sister, Cate, providing the anchor leg – Harris and Emma McKeon provided the second and third swims, respectively.<\/p>\n
"I could not be prouder of these girls," Cate Campbell said post-race.<\/p>\n
"It's been a tough ask for everyone to get here and to come away with a win and world record, you honestly couldn't have asked for anything better." <\/p>\n

They also beat the previous Olympic record, set by the Campbells, McKeon and Brittany Elmslie in 2016, by nearly a second.<\/p>\n
Sweden and Great Britain provided some stiff competition over the first half of the race, but by the time McKeon was finished in a blistering time of 51.35, Australia had a clear lead that Cate Campbell was never a chance of surrendering.<\/p>\n
McKeon's time would have been good for a world record if it was eligible, but only the first leg of relay swims can qualify.<\/p>\n
The quartet were quick to praise Mollie O'Callaghan and Madison Wilson, who swam two legs of yesterday's heat before making way for Cate Cambpell and McKeon in the final. <\/p>\n
"All six of us are part of this team," McKeon said. <\/p>\n

"It's incredible, it's been a long time with this team and it's been one of my favourite memories, being part of the Australian team, being a part of this particular team," Bronte Campbell said after the race.<\/p>\n
"There's no feeling like it," Harris added.<\/p>\n
The Aussies finished more than three seconds ahead of the second-placed Canadians, who pipped the USA to silver by 0.03.<\/p>\n
Australia has dominated the event in the 21st century, winning gold in Sydney, Athens, London, Rio, and now Tokyo, along with a bronze in Beijing.<\/p>\n
