The Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide Power will make the mad dash to Victoria later today in response to the news that South Australia will enter a snap seven-day lockdown.<\/p>\n

Both clubs will board a chartered flight this afternoon following the announcement this morning.<\/p>\n

Port Adelaide were scheduled to face Collingwood at Adelaide Oval on Friday, while the Crows were locked in to face the Hawks on Saturday at the same venue.<\/p>\n

It remains unclear at this stage whether the games will be rescheduled or played at a Victorian venue.<\/p>\n

At the moment, 10 clubs in total will be based in Victoria from tonight, despite the earlier announcement that Victoria's lockdown will be extended for seven days<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Essendon, Brisbane, Gold Coast, GWS and Sydney are all currently based in Queensland.<\/p>\n

South Australia will go into lockdown from 6pm tonight<\/a> after the state recorded two new cases of coronavirus in the community.<\/p>\n

Premier Steven Marshall confirmed the outbreak was the highly transmissible Delta strain.<\/p>\n

"The reality is we are dealing with a different variant to last year's Parafield cluster," Mr Marshall said.<\/p>\n

"This is a highly-infectious strain and that is why we are taking these extreme precautions."<\/p>\n
