Liz Cambage<\/a> is officially under investigation from Basketball Australia<\/a> for what has been deemed a "breach of the integrity framework and code of conduct" following her exit from the Opals' Olympic team last week. <\/p>\n

Cambage, a four-time WNBA All-Star and the Opals' best player, withdrew from the team last week<\/a> stating that she needed to "take care of [herself] mentally and physically].<\/p>\n

Amid reports of a series of incidents in the Opals' camp in Las Vegas, Basketball Australia confirmed that the 29-year-old was under investigation in a statement.<\/p>\n

"The circumstances surrounding the incident that occurred during the scrimmage between Nigeria and Australia involving Liz Cambage are currently under investigation for a breach of the integrity framework and code of conduct," the statement read.<\/p>\n

"As Liz has withdrawn from the Olympic Games due to mental health reasons we will not make any comments on the status of the investigation until the matter is concluded.<\/p>\n

"The investigation is being managed by Basketball Australia's Integrity Division."<\/p>\n

Cambage herself has confirmed that she was involved in a physical altercation<\/a> during the scrimmage against Nigeria, but suggested that rumours surrounding the incident had gotten out of hand.<\/p>\n

"Yeah, things got heated in the Nigeria game," she said. "There was a physical altercation and there were words exchanged, but I'm hearing things that aren't true at all.<\/p>\n

"Everything that happened and everything that was said is on film."<\/p>\n

Cambage has also strongly denied rumours that she went outside of the Opals' Las Vegas bubble.<\/p>\n

"I'm seeing reports I went out partying. S—. I wish I did!" she said.<\/p>\n

"I know some of the people in Vegas have been having a really good time this week. But I've been in here, bro. I've been in here. And the only time I left this goddamn bubble was for the All-Star game.<\/p>\n

"I don't appreciate the lies. Don't you ever get sick of lying on my name. Don't you have anything else better to talk about?"<\/p>\n

The Cambage-less Opals are scheduled to open their Olympic campaign with a Group C match-up against Belgium on July 27.<\/p>\n
