Tim Tszyu's promoter will lobby the WBO to ensure the undefeated Aussie is mandatory for the super welterweight world title belt which remains with Brian Castano following his controversial draw with American Jermell Charlo yesterday.<\/a><\/p>\n

The split decision saw Charlo retain the IBF, WBC and WBA belts, while Castano held on to his WBO belt. It was a controversial verdict that left boxing pundits up in arms, with many perplexed by judge Nelson Vasquez' 117-111 score in Charlo's favour.<\/p>\n

The draw also left many of Tszyu's supporters frustrated at the prospect of further title shot delays, with a likely rematch thought to be called between Castano and Charlo before the pair before move on to new opponents.<\/p>\n

However, in a new development, Tszyu's promoter, George Rose of No Limit, says he plans to immediately lobby WBO president Fransisco 'Paco' Valcarcel with the intention to make Tszyu mandatory for a title shot, with Caston's draw perhaps playing into the Aussie's favour.<\/p>\n

"The draw could turn out to be a good result for us \u2013 Tszyu could be next. That was a great fight and you'd be surprised if Charlo wanted to jump straight into a rematch – plus he'll have the other sanctioning bodies breathing down his neck," Rose said per Fox Sports.<\/p>\n

"We'll talk to Paco at the WBO today about the prospect of making Tszyu mandatory for Casta\u00f1o's belt and we'll be doing everything possible to make that fight happen before the end of the year."<\/p>\n

Tszyu has had his eyes fixed on the WBO title throughout his meteoric rise on home soil and called out Castano after yesterday's draw.<\/p>\n

There is a school of thought, however, that he may have to endure just one more fight before his title shot, with a slated clash against British veteran Liam Smith being spruiked for September.<\/p>\n
