The Maroons have prevented an embarrassing Origin clean sweep on home soil after hanging on to win Game Three 20-18<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After heavily one-sided contests in the first two matches of the series, Queensland did their state proud with their performance on the Gold Coast, holding out fast-finishing Blues side to prevent the humiliation of a rare 3-0 result<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So, who shone brightest for the Maroons and who struggled to nail their chance for the Blues?<\/p>\n

NSW BLUES<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. James Tedesco:<\/strong> His quietest game of the series but still made 183 metres and always threatened.<\/p>\n

Rating: 8\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. Brian To'o:<\/strong> Had a couple of nervous moments under pressure but overall was again strong.\u00a0<\/p>\n

3. Latrell Mitchell:<\/strong> Came up with some huge plays yet again in the first half but lost his way a bit in the second.\u00a0<\/p>\n

4. Tom Trbojevic:<\/strong> Was given little time or space by the Queensland defence and missed the crisp service from Cleary and Luai.<\/p>\n

5. Josh Addo-Carr:<\/strong> Like Turbo Tom, couldn't find open space and made a crucial error from a kick downfield in the second half.\u00a0<\/p>\n

6. Jack Wighton:<\/strong> Struggled early with his decision making, made amends with a smart solo try but overall, not at his best.\u00a0<\/p>\n

9. Damien Cook:<\/strong> Didn't run much with the ball and the Blues looked more dangerous when Koroisau got his chance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

10. Junior Paulo:<\/strong> Took the Maroons line on and was a threat but couldn't put any of his supports away through the line.<\/p>\n

13. Isaah Yeo:<\/strong> Completed a fine series with another enthusiastic game, plenty of involvement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

14. Api Koroisau:<\/strong> Made the most of his call-up, scoring a fine try on debut and giving good service at dummy-half.\u00a0<\/p>\n

15. Angus Crichton:<\/strong> Strong off the bench, making the hard yards up the middle.\u00a0<\/p>\n

17. Liam Martin:<\/strong> Tried to lift the Blues when he got his chance but was well contained by the Maroons.\u00a0<\/p>\n

QUEENSLAND MAROONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Kalyn Ponga:<\/strong> Added plenty of penetration and strike power to the Maroons backline – pity he was injured in the earlier games.<\/p>\n

\"Hunt<\/p>\n

2. Valentine Holmes:<\/strong> Had few chances and then injured his shoulder just before halftime, ending his night.<\/p>\n

3. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow:<\/strong> Scored a fine try on debut and handled Tommy Turbo fairly well.<\/p>\n

4. Dane Gagai:<\/strong> Made a couple of crucial mistakes in the first half, missing Latrell for a try, then bombing one.<\/p>\n

5. Xavier Coates:<\/strong> Didn't get many opportunities but did his job running the ball back.<\/p>\n

6. Cameron Munster:<\/strong> Got under the Blues' skin with his aggressive game and created a vital try.<\/p>\n

7. Daly Cherry-Evans:<\/strong> Led the Maroons well, ensuring they held solid under pressure in the dying stages.<\/p>\n

14. AJ Brimson:<\/strong> Replaced Holmes and didn't let the team down, playing solidly in the centres.<\/p>\n
